KTH: Royal Institute of Technology (Inno Energy)

Our unique European Master’s programmes address the most exciting and important areas in sustainable energy and energy engineering. All develop highly valued, in-demand knowledge and skills for a rapidly changing energy sector. Interested in renewable energy, nuclear fuels, smart cities, or clean fossil fuels? Want to be an expert in smart grids, or gain a broader overview of current and future energy technologies? We have the programme for you

Masters Nuclear Energy

A new generation of advanced nuclear technologies offer unparalleled power, speed and scalability to dramatically accelerate the transition to a low or even post-carbon energy landscape. At the same time, innovations in waste management have dramatically reduced risk and negative impact on the environment.

Experts across the globe coincide on the potential of nuclear energy in the fight against climate change. In fact, the four most promising pathways that could limit global warming by 1.5°C by 2050 include nuclear energy.

However, to drive innovation and accelerate safe and effective deployment, we now have an urgent need for a new generation of engineers – change leaders who have the big-picture understanding, the world-class technical skills, the entrepreneurial tools and the innovation mindset to fully leverage this opportunity. To overcome the challenges. And to play a critical role in forging a post-carbon future.

The Master’s in Nuclear Energy is your fast track to a world-class career at the cutting edge of innovation in the global energy transition.

In the first year, you can choose to attend either KTH: Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm or UPC: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech, where you take core modules in:
• The fundamentals of nuclear engineering
• Safety and radiation protection
• Design and management of power plants.

In the second year, you remain in France and attend either the Grenoble INP or the Université Paris-Saclay. At this stage in the programme, students choose to specialise in one of the following areas:
• Materials science for nuclear energy
• Nuclear reactor physics and engineering
• Nuclear plant design
• Operations
• Fuel cycle
• Decommissioning and waste management

The admissions criteria are:
